Council Member Sullivan
Announces Traffic Control Plan
for Kingwood High School

August 20, 2009

Houston City Council Member Mike Sullivan announced today that a comprehensive traffic plan has been developed for traffic in and around Kingwood High School. "The first two weeks of school always pose challenges as students try to enter Kingwood High School. At the same time, many residents are trying to make it down Kingwood Drive for their commute to work. In an effort to assist all motorists, I have asked the Houston Police Department to send additional resources to Kingwood to help with the flow of traffic", Council Member Sullivan said.

At the direction of Assistant Police Chiefs Timothy Oettmeir and Vicki King, a number of traffic enforcement units and personnel will be deployed on Kingwood Drive at the intersections of West Lake Houston Parkway, and at Valley Manor, as well as the entrance to the high school. Officers will be on duty from 6:45 AM daily until traffic subsides. As many as 10 officers will be used for traffic control.

"I want to thank the Houston Police Department and Mayor White for responding to my request for additional traffic control. My goal is for students and staff to be able to get to school on time, and for Kingwood residents to be able to get to work in a timely fashion with as little inconvenience as possible" said Sullivan
